About the San Miguel County Trails Council:

The Trails Council was created in 1989, as an advisory group to the San Miguel County Commissioners.
The Trails Council is made up of private citizens and government agency officials that represent a
cross section of related trails interests.  The mission of the Trails Council is to:

1.  Maintain existing trails;

2.  Plan and implement new multi-use year round and seasonal trails as identified in the San Miguel              County Trails Master Plan, which will connect existing trails together;

3.  Create new recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors;

4.  Provide access to publicly owned land throughout the Region;

5.  Provide an alternative to vehicular travel between regional development nodes identified in the              County Master Plan;

6.  Connect public open space separated by private lands.
