TRAILHEAD: Section 13 T42N
R9W TRAIL END: Section 24 T42N
R9W ACCESS: Follow Bear Creek Road up from the end of South Pine Street in Telluride. About two miles up the Wasatch. The trail starts on the right side of the road. Follow the Wasatch Trail up the switchbacks and through the rock gorge to the first meadow. LENGTH: 2 miles or 3.3 km one way RECOMMENDED SEASON: Late June through October. Winter use is not suggested due to steep terrain and extreme avalanche danger. AMOUNT OF USE: Light DIFFICULTY: Difficult, due to steep and slippery trail USGS TOPO MAP: Telluride SUGGESTED USES: Hiking CONSIDERATIONS: The trail is steep and difficult to follow. Camping is impractical due to heavy brush coverage and steep grades. When combined with the first section of the Wasatch Trail, this trail makes a somewhat difficult loop which can be hiked in one day from the town of Telluride. TRAIL DESCRIPTION: |
